One of the most terrifying natural events I’ve experienced was Storm Yagi, which hit my country in March a couple of year. The storm made landfall with powerful winds and heavy rainfall, leaving a devastating impact on both people and property.
It caused serious destruction—damaging countless buildings, farmlands, and essential infrastructure. The economic losses were significant, but what was even more heartbreaking were the human casualties. In one tragic case, a flash flood completely wiped out Nu Village, where around 60 people lived. That event truly shocked the entire nation.
At the time, I was attending a lecture at my university. I remember feeling extremely anxious because I couldn't contact my family, and I was scared something terrible might happen to them. Thankfully, my loved ones were safe, but many others weren’t so lucky.
That experience made me realize how unpredictable and cruel nature can be. It also reminded me how important disaster preparedness is—for both individuals and the community. Since then, I've become more aware of early warnings and how to stay safe in emergencies
